They got humbled.
Well…that was ugly.
Against a team that is slowly being trained in a similar image to the Celtics, the Charlotte Hornets beat Boston at its own game.
Charlotte won the possession battle.
Charlotte moved the ball better.
Charlotte defended better.
For a game that took place on the parquet of the TD Garden, this was about as humbling as it could get.
“We weren’t the harder-playing team tonight on either side of the ball, uncharacteristic of us. Didn’t get off to a great start,” Jaylen Brown said after the game. “We just weren’t the harder-playing team tonight.”
The Hornets are 9th in the Eastern Conference. Their win over Boston moved them 1 game above .500 for the season. With how the Celtics have been playing recently, I came into this game with only one expectation: another win.
Things don’t always turn out like you expect them to, though.
