When Jaylen Brown replied to that clip from Jayson Tatum’s offseason documentary, it made sense to let it play out. People would have their opinions; the whole situation would trend on social media for a day, maybe two, and then we’d be back to business as usual.
That’s not how it went, though.
Instead, for the past week, we’ve had new update after new update. Both Brown and Tatum have said their piece. Of course, the fanbase and the media have also weighed into the situation — and it even bled into the on-air calls for games, with both Brian Scalabrine and Drew Carter having some fun? with it.
When it comes to Tatum and Brown, the fanbase seems split. It’s been that way for years. I’d hazard a guess that even the people on this mailing list will have picked their side, at least to a degree. It’s part and parcel of the fandom experience. After all, we watched both of these guys develop in the Celtics system. We saw them try, fail, try again, and ultimately become champions. So, it makes sense that the discussion around the situation can get heated.
For hopefully the last time until Tatum and Brown face off on an NBA floor, I hopped on a podcast to discuss the current back-and-forth between two of our favorite NBA stars. I was joined by my long-time podcast co-host Tim Sheils, and we gave our thoughts on the latest installment of the Tatum/Brown saga and our hopes that, at least for now, we’re entering some calmer waters.
As usual, you can find the episode on any major podcast player. Or, if you prefer to watch the episode, it’s already live on YouTube.
As a quick aside, some of you will probably know that I’ve been rebuilding my YouTube channel after losing my previous one. It’s been a long and very slow road. Turns out rebuilding something is harder than building it the first time around.
Luckily, I’m nothing if not committed and patient, and I have a great podcast setup with some awesome co-hosts that I love working with. Anyway, the Celtics Chronicle is now 71 subscribers away from that elusive 1,000-subscriber mark — which in turn unlocks monetization for the channel.
So, I humbly ask you, if you haven’t already, please head over and subscribe. It’s free, and it honestly helps a ton. I know creators say that all the time, so it loses its value, but it’s true. For me, it unlocks another revenue stream, which in turn helps move me closer to the goal of doing The Celtics Chronicle full-time (even if that is still so far on the horizon I can’t see it yet).
YouTube is moving the goalposts soon. So, getting over this 1,000-subscriber mark as quickly as possible is key. I am definitely in a sprint, not a marathon at this point.
Fortunately, well, hopefully, there are enough people on this mailing list that, if you would be so willing, we could hit this goal today! So, whatd'ya say? Wanna help me out?
